longterm consideration of an underground or metro system would create and free up more space for other sustainable active travel modes, walking, cycling electric scooters and cars. It would reduce private car generated pollution with a knock on effect on creating public realm space, on peoples health, wellbeing and biodiversity. This would aid achieveing climate action goals and allow reconfiguration of limited green and open spaces for placemaking and optimisation of active travel routes. As the city grows an underground similar to so many other capital cities must be considered as time goes on it will become more expensive and difficult to achieve.
