Proposal
The National Transport Authority (NTA) is inviting feedback on proposed amendments to the Small Public Service Vehicle Regulations, specifically relating to Local Area Hackney licences. The proposed changes aim to improve access to transport in rural communities through an increase in Local Area Hackney operations. A consultation paper outlining the background to Local Area Hackney licences and the proposed updates is provided below.

Submissions and Consultation Report

Respondents are not required to answer all questions and can choose the elements of the paper most important to them to respond to.
Following completion of the consultation and assessment of the responses, the public consultation report, including submissions, will be published on NTA’s website.
Public Consultation Period
The public consultation is open until 5pm on Friday 28 November 2025.
