Cycle Connects - Ireland's Cycle Network banner image

Cycle Connects: Ireland's Cycle Network provides a cycle network for every county in the State outside the Greater Dublin Area. Coupled with the GDA Cycle Network, it represents a comprehensive cycling network for Ireland. CycleConnects also provides 63 urban networks, for all towns with a population of over 5,000.

The development of CycleConnects is a Core Action of the Government's National Sustainable Mobility Policy.

The draft CycleConnects network went through a non-statutory public consultation at the end of 2022. Since then, the networks have been refined to reflect submissions received during that consultation, and further engagement with all stakeholders.

The updated network has now gone through a full environmental assessment (Strategic Environmental Assessment, Appropriate Assessment and Equality Impact Assessment) which is now going through its statutory public consultation, The NTA seeks views on both the updated network and environmental assessments.

On the right panel, all environmental assessment material can be accessed:

  • SEA
  • AA
  • EqIA
  • County Assessments

Through the interactive map, and also in the sections below, all updated CycleConnects documentation and network maps can be accessed.

  • Summary Report
  • Report on 2022 Consultation
  • County Network Maps
  • Urban Network Maps
  • County Technical Notes

The consultation will remain open until the 25th October 2024. Submissions can be made through this portal using the 'Make a Submission' link, or by email to: [email protected]
