Closed30 Mar, 2023, 12:00pm - 26 May, 2023, 11:59pm

Primary tabs

On Thursday 30 March 2023, the National Transport Authority (NTA) published, for public consultation, the Preferred Route Options for the 11 Sustainable Transport Corridors (STCs) of BusConnects Cork.

The Sustainable Transport Corridors involve the implementation of continuous bus priority and cycle facilities along 11 key bus corridors around Cork City. The plans include approximately 91 km of bus lane/ bus priority and 96 km of cycle facilities across the city. The 11 Sustainable Transport Corridors are designed with the aim of making the bus system operate more efficiently and to encourage more people to cycle by enhancing infrastructure.

In June 2022, BusConnects Cork commenced its first round of public consultation. The 13 week consultation led to three thousand submissions being received by the NTA.

Based on your feedback last year, the NTA has made a number of revisions to its initial proposals. One of the main changes to note is that we are now proposing 11 instead of 12 STCs. The Sunday’s Well to Hollyhill STC is no longer being progressed as an individual scheme, with sections of the corridor being incorporated into adjacent schemes.

The 11 proposed corridors are:

A. Dunkettle to City;

B. Mayfield to City;

C. Blackpool to City;

D. Hollyhill to City;

E. Ballincollig to City;

F. Bishopstown to City;

G. Togher to City;

H. Airport Road to City;

I. Maryborough Hill to City;

J. Mahon to City;

K. Kinsale Road to Douglas

The public consultation period will run from Thursday 30 March until Thursday 25 May 2023.

Submissions or observations should be made via the "Make a Submission" link on this page. When making a submission please select the relevant STC you are providing feedback on in the Chapter section, when prompted, or select the Overall Scheme Chapter to provide feedback on the overall scheme.
